A makes up words...

A has always made up words when she couldn't identify something.

For example some creations from the past...
Unicorn = Horsey-corn
Mouse = Bunny-rat

Anyway, the other day we were at the grocery store and the person checking us out was like Pat from SNL. S/he was very nice yet unidentifiable and her/his name tag said Jamie. I wouldn't have even noticed her appearance but my little A had to embarrass the heck out of me.

Not until she was handing Jamie candy did she really get a good look at her. She said in the sweetest (loudest and clearest) voice, 'HI LADY-MAN!!' Once wasn't good enough so she said it a few more times. Mortified yet amused would describe me feelings!! I truly think (or choose to believe) Jamie had no idea what A was saying.

---------------------------------

While we are on the topic of A, I have one more story to tell. I really didn't want to blog about this because it was so embarrassing but what the heck....

This story begins the night before the main event. Sistah Jeezy and I had a little spat about what to call private parts. I use the actual term for the vagina and penis. Those are the actual words, it is not like I am using some vulgar terminology here...Anyway, my sister (whose kids are in college) couldn't believe I used the real term. I told her once she wrote a book on parenting, I would listen to her advice. Jeezy likes confrontation and likes to get the last words in a fight so she said before we hung up, 'Fine but A is going to embarrass you one day!'

Fast forward to 12 hours later...I was purchasing an iPhone and needless to say the ATT store was packed to the gills with customers and employees. The man that was helping us was nice enough but lacked smiles and warm and fuzzies for the 3 children I dragged into the store with me. We were almost in the clear...he was ringing up my total - hmmmmmmm - what is up with her and the flare-ups while people ring us up???

Anyway, A looked up at him and in her sweet, loud and clear voice, she said without taking a breath....
Do you have a penis? (Sensing the shock on his face she felt the need to clarify why she was asking) My daddy has a penis and my brother has a penis and my mommy...she has a 'gina and I have a 'gina too...sooooo, do you have a penis?

Oh the joys of parenting!!

From whiner to jumper!!

P has been so great with jumping and swimming...as I mentioned in a previous posting. We made a video for Daddy since he doesn't get to go to the pool with us and I thought I would share it with cyber-world.

Fancy feet

I have two previous posts of P and A rolling up the back window with their toes! My sisters and I have been known to be quite handy with our feet...get your mind out of the gutter - nothing like that!!

A's feelings about Baby Beau

A has always been very vocal and able to express things that she shouldn't be able to at her age. I frequently catch myself thinking there's a reason for 2 year olds not being able to speak clearly.

Today Baby Beau was playing with A's toys with her feet. A was not having it and was getting annoyed to say the least. Finally she said, 'Mommy, I told you I don't like this baby. She's bad. We need to get a new baby!'

Church

Okay, we have learned a valuable lesson regarding the importance of teaching your children about faith. We never go to church unless of course we are at a wedding or baptising a child. We do pray at home and always before we eat but apparently that is not enough!! Well, we have decided to start making this a weekly event for a lot of reason, none of which are relevant to the posting of this blog.

Last week the baby and I went alone and while we were walking up to communion, there was a man walking behind us. He started singing to the baby in a really loud voice. The baby started 'singing' back to him. They held hands over my shoulder while I walked up the church aisle and the entire congregation looked upon us smiling. It was one of those 'moments' sent from above. Really!

Anyway, fast forward to this week. We went to mass with everyone, leaving the tranquil, peaceful, moving experience to last week. A stayed quiet for the most part, except of course to let us know, 'I don't like that man - he is scary!' By the way 'that man' happened to be the priest, yes the priest!!!

Then there was P. He had so many questions, comments, etc. Some of you may remember my post last year when he was getting church and the parade confused (two things we do twice a year.) Anyway, he seemed to understand there was a difference this year, only asking once if they would be throwing candy at him. When I started to explain he declared that he remembered!!

Some of his questions/comments...
Are we going to see G-d at church?
Why do we have to go to church to talk to G-d?
(When he saw the priest) Is that G-d?

Then the basket came around. Weird to be the parents giving each kid money so they could put it in the basket and not the kid begging for money. Anyway, he put the money in the basket and asked when they were going to give him a prize....yeah this is not a carnival babe!!

Anyway, quite the experience!! Needless to say, I signed him up for religious education which begins this fall.

Can I take pictures at church??

Please note, we took our noise-makers to the back of the church, listened through the pipes and watched through the CLOSED glass doors!! I have to say, the leather couches are much more cozy than the wooden pews!!

4th of July

As you all know, the 4th is my favorite holiday!! Despite the rain and my mom not feeling well (resulting in my p's not joining the festivities) we had a great day! Sistah Shillary took over the 4th of July Party with ease!

When we were going to bed that night, A (my 2 year old) said, 'Mommy I had fun cekebrating the stars birthday today!!!'

Her saying that was so cute...what's not so cute is the time...11 pm!! She was a little hyped!
