BIG MOUTH PART 2
For those that haven't read every blog entry the last 3.5 years, let me get you up to speed on something. My five year old is a chip off the old block and has a big mouth. A few months ago, I posted about my son telling my neighbor that I said they had a messy house. My face turned bright red and while I tried to defend myself, I just looked more and more guilty...and I was not!
Anyway, our neighbor two doors down has a beautifully landscaped yard. They are always outside with their two dogs working in the yard. They have a 6 foot privacy fence along the back property line and on the other side of the fence is another dog. The dogs constantly bark back and forth through the fence. The man has taken to spraying the other dog through the fence to get him away from the fence.
While I have been observing this behavior, I was thinking of the other dog and thinking I would be pissed if I was the momma of that dog. I have to admit I have had conversations about it to my good friend (we run out of things to talk about 100 times/day) and of course my animal loving family. Anyway, if I have learned anything to date, I have learned not to judge someone unless you have worn their shoes and walked the same steps. If my dogs were constantly hashing it out with a dog through a fence, who knows what I would do. I used to think I would never yell at my kids or have kids that misbehave...CASE CLOSED!!
Anyway, today the kids, Mattie (our Shepard) and I were talking a walk and ran into the 'hose spraying' neighbors. They are very nice and I seriously envy their beautiful lawn. Anyway, we were chatting (as us Mays love to do) and up walks P, my five year old with the over-sized mouth.
He sizes up the wife and says, 'HEY (by the way, he had my heart in my mouth at the HEY) YOUR HUSBAND IS THE ONE THAT SPRAYS THE DOGS THROUGH THE FENCE!!'
She looked at him and asked with a bit of guilt, 'how do you know we do that?'
He looked right back at her (why oh why have I been working on the importance of eye contact when speaking to people? It looks so damn defiant when saying something off the wall) and said, 'WE KNOW BECAUSE WE WATCH YOU!!'
Here I found myself once again fumbling and stumbling for something to say. 'P they are trying to protect their dogs' while the wife was updating her husband on the recent developments from the new neighbor's BIG MOUTH child.
Hose-spraying hubby walks over with a big spade in his hand. He pops his earphones out and says, 'Yes, I spray the dog through fence and you better watch it kid, because I don't discriminate, I will spray you too!!'
Oh how I wish it ended there but this is my son so on the story goes...'Yeah well, I have a HUGE water gun and I will spray you back IDIOT!!'
Oh yes, 'idiot' he said 'idiot' to my neighbor. You judgemental folks that think your kids are perfect stop reading now and go check on your kid because he's probably smoking in your bathroom with the window cracked. You other folks that feel my pain, laugh with me!! Wow, that was embarrassing!!!
